This project was created in collaboration with Foundation Vrijheidscolleges, whose mission is to inspire people of all ages to reflect on the meaning and value of freedom. Since 2013, they have developed programs about life in war and conflict, democracy, and the rule of law — sharing personal and powerful stories that connect these themes to today’s world.

I love capturing these events — the moments, the interactions, the connections. They resonate deeply with the themes I’m drawn to photograph: resilience, identity, the human spirit, freedom, and connection.
